The VMS Paint 24hrs of iLamuna, held at Redstar Raceway from November 1-3, 2024, has once again made motorsport history. This year’s event celebrated the participation of three extraordinary young drivers—Chloe Castel (age 15), Elektra Skordis (age 15), and Kristen Auerswald (age 16)—who set a world record as the youngest female drivers ever to compete in a 24-hour endurance race. Their accomplishment stands as a milestone for female athletes and a proud moment for African motorsport.
These young racers captivated audiences with their skill, perseverance, and team spirit as they competed in one of Africa’s only 24hr endurance events From the start to the final lap, Chloe, Elektra, and Kristen demonstrated the drive and courage, inspiring fans and fellow competitors alike.
New for 2024: Introducing OG Lemons and SL Lemons Classes This year’s VMS Paint 24hrs of iLamuna also featured the exciting introduction of two new classes: OG Lemons and SL Lemons. These categories were created to enhance competition by allowing teams to compete against similarly equipped vehicles, making the race even more thrilling and accessible. The addition of these classes showcased a fantastic variety of skill levels and car builds, creating a dynamic, high-energy atmosphere throughout the event.
