Early March was always South African Grand Prix month at Kyalami. Traditionally, Formula 1 would arrive at the Midrand circuit two weeks before the race for the traditional pre-season tests, and then the race. Just like happened at Bahrain last week, but rather right here at Kyalami, back then.
An emotion-filled week fortnight for race fans, we waited all year for it. We watched champions like Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, our own Jody Scheckter, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and others winning, right here in our own back yard. Time moved on, the last Grand Prix raced in ’93, and all that’s left, are memories.
Which is why the epic book, Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit - 60 Years of Memories is such an important piece of work. Anyone who so fondly recalls those early March Grand Prix every year will be enthralled by the book edited by Kyalami stalwarts Denis Klopper and Roger Houghton. It goes well beyond the Grand Prix too, to the 9 Hour, and every race ever to happen at the iconic circuit.
But you’d better be quick! Only fifteen copies of this incredible piece of history remain available before Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit - 60 Years of Memories is sold out, for once and for all. Contact
