A whole new race season looms. Bring it on!

The start of the 2023 National Extreme Festival may very well be two months away over the weekend of the Kyalami ICGT international GT3 9 Hour 23-25 February 2023, but Dunlop Sport Maxx Racing is champing at the bit to get going.

Returning to Kyalami to start the season may be one of the highlights of the year, but there’s more than good reason for race fans around the country to diarise the dates that the Dunlop-shod National Extreme Festival visits your local racetrack.

It’s set to be a huge season, with the biggest target on Global Touring Car champion Rob Wolk’s back. Wolk is expected to start his 2023 season in his familiar blue Chemical Logistics Corolla GTC, but there could well be a surprise in his steed later in the season. Rest assured that Saood Variawa and Michael van Rooyen’s Gazoo Corollas, Bradley Liebenberg’s Hype Golf and some exciting new metal will be zoning in on that Dunlop-tyred GTC bullseye.

Everything is changing in Dunlop’s SupaCup championship too. Champion Leyton Fourie is said to have his eyes on other racing horizons, leaving challengers Jeff Kruger, Keegan and Jason Campos, and the rest to fend off a handful of Polo Cup graduates looking to repeat Fourie’s rookie title winning step up.

Talking CompCare Polo Cup, which also races exclusively on Dunlop tyres, that was 2022’s closest-fought title race. Some of those drivers have stepped up, but others will be chasing among SA’s most exclusive crowns, starting end February at Kyalami.

Set to deliver brilliant racing at every racetrack it visits, the Extreme Festival circus travels to Killarney for its second round on 18 March, before heading back up north to Zwartkops on 20 May. There’s a coastal tour from there as the Extreme Festival visits Gqeberha’s Aldo Scribante on 17 June, the East London Grand Prix Circuit 22 July and heads back to Killarney in Cape Town on 9 September. Leaving Pretoria’s Zwartkops finale to wrap it all up.

Diarise it now. And join Dunlop Sport Maxx when the Extreme Festival visits your local racetrack during 2023.
