JAC Motors South Africa has expanded its popular T-Series line-up with two new T9 2.0L CTi Black Edition 4x4 derivatives.
Available in Hunter and Super Lux specifications, the Hunter produces 144 kW and 487 Nm, while the Super Lux delivers 125 kW and 444 Nm. These new additions strengthen JAC Motors’ premium bakkie range and form part of its Decade campaign, celebrating almost 10 years of operations in South Africa.
Based on the T9 Super Lux 4x4, the Black Edition adds a more distinctive, rugged look that sets it apart from the rest of the line-up. It is immediately recognisable by its black radiator grille, matt black 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, exterior mirrors, door handles and exterior trim – all finished in black. Inside, the premium black leather-enhanced interior combines luxury, durability and easy cleaning.
Targeted at performance-oriented customers, the T9 Hunter Black Edition further distinguishes itself with unique Hunter-branded decals on the sides and tailgate. Standard features include branded nudge and style bars, a tonneau cover and tow bar, all included in the retail price. Branded headrests and heavy-duty floor carpets complete its distinctive, customised specification.
The T9’s responsive 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine features direct injection, common-rail technology, an intercooler and an Electrical Variable Geometry Turbocharger (EVGT) for excellent drivability. Paired with a seamless ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, it offers Sport, Normal, Eco and Snow driving modes. The efficient drivetrain delivers an impressive combined-cycle fuel consumption of 7.8 L/100 km.
A centre-console dial lets you engage 4WD at speeds up to 80 km/h. Its off-road performance is further enhanced by low-range functionality and a rear electronic differential lock, providing added traction and control over challenging terrain. With a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, it is ideal for families towing heavy camping equipment on adventurous getaways.

In April 2025, JAC Motors broke a 15-year-old 24-hour commercial-vehicle endurance record with a T9. JAC Motors has also confirmed that its new T9 PHEV will launch locally in the fourth quarter of 2026, following its successful global launch. Combining a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine with electric motors on the front and rear axles, it delivers a combined 360 kW and 674 Nm. A 31.2 kWh battery provides an electric driving range of up to 100 km. The T9 PHEV supports onboard charging and can charge from 15% to 80% at a DC fast charger in just 30 minutes.

The T9’s retail price includes JAC Motors’ comprehensive 5-year/200,000 km manufacturer’s warranty, a 7-year/100,000 km service plan and 24-hour roadside assistance for 5 years/200,000 km. The first service is scheduled at 10,000 kilometres, followed by services every 15,000 kilometres.
