Duxbury Networking, South Africa’s long-established, industry-leading IT company, will once again support the Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa team in its bid to achieve a repeat win in the Dakar Rally which will be held in Saudi Arabia for the first time in 2020.
Building on its Dakar victory in South America in 2019, the team will be boosted by the addition of the double Formula One World Champion and Le Mans 24 Hour race winner Fernando Alonso.
The Spanish racing legend will join the 2019 Dakar winner, Qatar’s Nasser al-Attiyah, Holland’s Bernhard ten Brinke, and South African Giniel de Villiers (also a former Dakar winner) in the team’s formidable line-up.
Four new Toyota Hilux racers, proudly flying the Duxbury Networking flag, will be on the start line in Jeddah on 5 January 2020 before concluding the rally on 17 January in Al-Qiddiya after 12 stages and over 9,000km of running.
Graham Duxbury CEO of Duxbury Networking is upbeat about the team’s prospects. “During our partnership, which goes back to 2011, we’ve been privileged to watch the Toyota Gazoo team lay the groundwork and establish what has become one of the world’s strongest and most successful off-road racing teams.
“Now, with two previous winners on board, complemented by the undoubted talents of Fernando Alonso, one of the most versatile racing drivers of all-time, there is a good chance that the team will once again do South Africa proud.”
Duxbury points out that Alonso has already established a strong South African association, having won the Daytona 24-Hour sports car race in America in January 2019 with the Konica Minolta Cadillac team run by former SA champion Wayne Taylor.
Toyota Gazoo Racing SA team principal, Glyn Hall, is pleased to again welcome the Duxbury brand to the team for 2020. “We’re excited to have Duxbury on board,” he says. “Their support in the past is valued and we hope to reward the company’s faith in the team with further successes.”
Duxbury adds that his company’s key objective, through its support for the Toyota Gazoo team, is to build top-of-mind awareness and loyalty for the Duxbury brand and its product set.
“In this regard, we hope to promote sales to our channel partners and acknowledge and reward the top performing reseller teams and individuals immediately before, during and after the Dakar,” he says.
Dakar Rally fans will be able to view daily highlights and go behind the scenes as they follow the fortunes of the Toyota Gazoo team, its drivers and support personnel by keeping an eye on the Duxbury Networking Facebook page.
The 2020 Dakar Rally is expected to boast an audience of more than one billion TV viewers and social media followers in over 190 countries.
