Signature Motorsport MINI team relishing tough Zwartkops challenge

Preview: Sasol GTC2 Championship – Rd 3, Zwartkops Raceway, 13th May

The Ferodo and Champion MINI John Cooper Works driven by Brad Liebenberg and Devin Robertson respectively will be in the thick of the GTC2 action at Zwartkops Raceway when round three of the series gets underway at the Pretoria circuit.

The Ferodo MINI driver is third in the championship standings after four races in the opening two rounds. He is just five points behind the series champion and with another seven rounds to go, the championship is very much alive.

Last time out in Cape Town, Brad put in a strong performance banking 28 points for his efforts.

Brad is looking to repeat his last race performance in Gauteng when he raced his Ferodo MINI John Cooper Works to victory with a second place finish added for good measure. “I’m in a much better place than I was this time last year. Zwartkops suits the MINI’s characteristics as we saw last year when both cars were never off the podium. This year’s package is an evolution of that car so I’m very positive. I want to repeat my form at Kyalami. The championship is really close with only seven points separating the top three so it’s all to play for”.

Devin raced his Champion MINI to a strong second place and first podium since joining the Signature Motorsport team this year and has his sights set on a similar – or better - performance when the cars are unleashed onto the 2.4km circuit.

“It is going to be a tough weekend given the level of competition in the GTC2 class”, said Devin. “I have set competitive times in testing and the team has been working hard to unlock more outright performance. The MINI’s handling and braking is strong which has allowed us to bank some good results so far. The progress from round one to round two has been significant, so the team is progressing in the right direction”.

Signature Motorsport welcomes race fans to their pits to collect a souvenir poster and other team goodies.

Qualifying takes place at 9am with the popular fan grid walk scheduled for 11h40 ahead of the first 12 lap race. The second race, where the grid is a reversal of the race one results, is scheduled for 14h50.
