Exciting weeks with spectacular races and great events lie behind us. We are already looking forward to the next season.
This was the MEYLE motorsport season 2019.
Action-packed months with exciting race weekends in the ADAC GT Masters and Truck Racing are behind the MEYLE team. Whether in bright sunshine or pouring rain, the racing teams have always given their best, fought exciting duels with their rivals - and were rewarded with championship points and podium finishes.
For the team of T3 Motorsport it was the first season in the ADAC GT Masters. The newly founded team around the two young drivers Maximilian Paul and William Tregurtha can look back with satisfaction on their first season with many new experiences and learnings. If you ask the two drivers what their personal highlight of the season was, they both agree: the race at the Hockenheimring. Here the duo was able to achieve 8th place in the overall standings, in the junior standings the junior drivers were even third on the podium. Before the team starts the well-deserved winter break, Maximilian Paul and William Tregurtha as well as Jens Feucht, team manager of T3 Motorsport, appeared for an interview to review the season.
The SL Trucksport 30 team around MAN driver Sascha Lenz can also look back on a successful 2019 season. At the home Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, Lenz was able to end his three-year run of bad luck and landed on the podium on Saturday in front of around 124,000 enthusiastic spectators - the absolute highlight of the season for Lenz! With a total of three gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals, he finally secured 5th place overall in the drivers' standings. The "Löwenpower" team, formed by Lenz and his Spanish MAN colleague Antonio Albacete, ends the season in second place. In an interview, Sascha talks about his 2019 season.
“Better on track”: Tested by the bests
Whether in the ADAC GT Masters or in truck racing, MEYLE's know-how transfer is at the forefront of all motorsport cooperations. With every kilometre covered on the race track, the engineers collect countless data; through the performance analysis of the parts under extreme conditions, MEYLE also gains key insights for further product development. In return, MEYLE engineers support the racing teams as technical partners during the race weekends and in the workshop.
This approach has led to optimised products 'Engineered by MEYLE' for drivers worldwide. Since 2014, for example, the Hamburg-based manufacturer has been installing MEYLE-ORIGINAL brake discs in racing trucks. Since then, these have been put through their paces in the context of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The knowledge gained from the racing operations flows directly into the technical further development and optimisation of the brake discs. Since 2018, parts developed in cooperation with a racing team in truck racing have also been available on the independent aftermarket for the first time: MEYLE PD brake pads.
In addition to the technical data, the subjective feedback of the drivers is also of enormous importance for the MEYLE engineers. For example, T3 Motorsport returned to the MEYLE engineers the fact that the factory-fitted support joints, especially in the VW Scirocco Cup, showed abnormalities when driving over the curbs in curves, which often led to the premature end of the race. Finally, MEYLE developed and optimized the design of the pin in the carrying joint, which is already produced in small series in the company's own production facilities and installed in the racing cars.
Full throttle with MEYLE
MEYLE says thank you!
Goodbye. Eventful races with great results and emotional motorsport moments lie behind the entire MEYLE team. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the drivers and the teams for their commitment and full physical effort on and around the race track. You really did a great job and it was fun working with you.
"The cooperation with T3 Motorsport was very cordial, familiar and extremely professional. T3 Motorsport is a very young team with a lot of potential. Max and Will have achieved an excellent performance in their first GT season. I'm sure we'll see and hear some of them next season. The personal talks with Max and Will after the races were also particularly exciting - it's impressive what every driver notices when driving through a single bend," says Marc Erdmann, MEYLE engineer and on duty for T3 Motorsport, summarising the season.
We would also like to thank all journalists for their excellent cooperation.
We are already looking forward to what the 2020 motorsport season will bring.
