Renault South Africa debuts in the 2019 Wesbank Fuel Economy Tour

Tuesday, 12h November, sees the start of the 2019 Wesbank Fuel Economy Tour, a much anticipated event which offers vehicle manufacturers and importers the perfect opportunity to promote the fuel economy of their products by competing over a pre-determined route from Johannesburg to Cape Town. As the naming convention implies, the objective of the 5-day tour to is to achieve recognition as having demonstrated the lowest fuel consumption within specified classes, with one brand ultimately being nominated as the "Most Fuel Efficient Brand 2019"

Fuel Economy remains of topical concern to all South African motorists within this tough economy, so this contest is extremely pertinent, with extensive TV coverage throughout the week.

Renault is proud to participate in this prestigious event, showcasing numerous vehicles with F1-inspired fuel efficient engines enabling frugal fuel consumption. RSA have invited 4 media teams (compromising of a driver and co-driver per vehicle) to participate in this event within the following Renault vehicles, across pertinent categories.

  • Captur PH2 1.5 dCi9 Dynamique - Category B1 - Diesel Turbo under 1900cc
  • Duster 1.5 dCi EDC 4x2 TechRoad - Category C1 - Diesel Turbo 1300cc-2000cc
  • Duster 1.6 Expression - Category G1 - Capacity 1500cc-2000cc
  • Kwid 50kW Climber ABS - Category I1 - Petrol Saloons and Hatches (Normally Aspirated) Capacity under 1199cc

The route will take competitors to several of SA's major cities i.e. Johannesburg, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, George, and Cape Town, spanning a total competitive distance approximately of 2,600KM.
