Michelin Tyre Company South Africa is preparing to create an unforgettable experience at this year’s Festival of Motoring, taking place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg from 25-27 August.
The multinational tyre company promises event patrons a one-of-a kind tyre performance experience on the track, with exclusive drives in sportscars, and gastronomic demonstrations and cuisine prepared by one of the country’s most sought-after chefs – who also happens to be Michelin-trained.
“For the past few years that we have been part of the Festival of Motoring, we have never gone as big as we are going this year, and it’s about time,” says Marcus Baffoe-Bonnie, Vice-President, and Managing Director for Michelin Sub-Saharan Africa. “We know that the Festival of Motoring is all about showcasing the best of what the motoring world has to offer, and as a company that has been in the mobility business since 1889, innovating all over the world to make mobility more thrilling, smoother and safer, it made sense for us to not only be part of this show again, but to also offer a unique VIP experience for visitors.”
As part of the Michelin VIP Hospitality Experience package, visitors get access to the Michelin Premium Suite, and get to experience Michelin tyres first hand through drives on the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in performance vehicles.
“We will be showcasing the popular Pilot Sport range including the Pilot Sport 5, Pilot Sport Cup 2, Pilot Sport 4 SUV and Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres – all designed for a premium driving experience. Michelin is also the tyre sponsor of the self-driving EV track, featuring the Pilot Sport EV eco-designed tyre, which promises to deliver quiet driving fun on electric sports vehicles,” says Baffoe-Bonnie.
Michelin prides itself as the leading mobility company, working with tyres, around tyres and beyond tyres to enable Motion for Life. A good example of this is the MICHELIN Guide, the ‘little book with the red cover’ which was created by the Michelin brothers in 1900, to give motorists and cyclists information that would add to the overall experience of traveling.
Today, the MICHELIN Guide covers places around the globe and has long been recognized internationally as the most prestigious standard for restaurant and hotel recommendations.
In keeping with this tradition, Michelin has partnered with chef Wandile Mabaso, who is set to prepare a culinary experience unlike any other throughout the festival for VIP guests, at the Michelin Premium Suite.
“Michelin for me is more than a long-term partner. The MICHELIN guide and its chefs have mentored me across the globe for over a decade. The brand is part of where I am in my career. Executing a Michelin experience has come full circle for me. I’m honoured to bring Michelin skills to my home city” concludes Mabaso.
