For ease of travelling over this period, here is some important travel information.
Please ensure that your tag is topped up with enough funds for your whole journey. You can top- up your account through various methods.
Account Top-up methods:
- Manual Payments where funds will show immediately
- The SANRAL Mobile App can be used to check your balance, top up and manage your SANRAL account,
- Self-service Terminal (located at selected filling stations) can also be used to check your balance, top up and manage your SANRAL account,
- Calling our Call Centre on 0800 726 725,
- Online, through our e-toll website, and
- Visiting a Customer Service Centre (located along the Gauteng Freeways, at selected malls in Gauteng and at selected Toll Plaza offices across the country).
- Manual Payments where the reflection of funds on your account will be delayed and only reflect between 2 – 5 working days
- Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT),
- At participating retailers, Pick ’n Pay, and Checkers,
- At any FNB Branch and making over-the-counter payments, and
- At any Advanced FNB ATM which has a note accepting facility.
- Automatic
- You may link the topping up of your Account to your Credit Card or through Direct Debit.
- Once the low balance threshold is reached, the Account will be topped up automatically to a balance as determined by you either with your selected Credit Card, or through Debit Order.
Peak Periods:
Anticipated Peak Periods for travel, are:
- On routes exiting Gauteng:
- 15th - 17th, 23rd - 24th and 26th - 31st of December 2022.
- On routes returning to Gauteng:
- 1st - 9th of January 2023.

Conventional Toll Plazas:
- Tags are accepted as a toll payment method at toll plazas that display a “Tags Accepted” sign.
- Please ensure that your tag is fitted correctly and that your SANRAL account has sufficient funds to cover the toll fee.
- If for any reason you are required to pay cash at a Toll Plaza, while your account is in good standing, the cash receipt provided would be required to verify any future disputes/ claims.
