Manufacturing Indaba Plenary Panel

Speaking on Plenary Panel 3 on ‘Financing the economic recovery – critical constraints and opportunities for public and private sector financing of the industrial economy’ on day 1 of the Manufacturing Indaba, ECIC Senior Economist, Sindiso Ndlovu, said ECIC was focused on supporting local exporters to compete in the AfCFTA - African Continental Free Trade Area.

To this end, she said ECIC is working collaboratively with commercial banks such as Absa Group  as well as the Industrial Development Corporation  (IDC) to assist exporters with access to working capital and providing them with the necessary political risk cover which also includes small enterprises under ECIC’s extended mandate. Sindiso highlighted that the kind of support and cover offered by ECIC, can help facilitate entry into the AfCFTA market which many exporters may not have previously considered possible.

The panel was moderated by Marie Botha, Programme Manager, Industry Connect, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
