Renowned for its Africa Record of the most Land Cruisers found on one premises at the same time, as well as the longest Land Cruiser convoy, the Land Cruiser Festival is back with a vengeance to break its own Africa Record yet again.
The festival originated in 2013 at the Windpompfees in Mookgophong (Naboomspruit) and was run by N1 4x4. It has since continued to grow and is now owned and run by Trio Events.
This year the festival has moved to a bigger and better venue, Mbizi Game Lodge, situated approximately eight kilometres outside Warmbaths (Bela-Bela) on the R516 Thabazimbi Road. According to Marius Opperman, owner of Trio Events, “it’s a great venue with excellent resort facilities and a family orientated vibe. Apart from setting a new record for Land Cruiser owners and South Africa, we’re all going to enjoy the many other attractions the Challenge has to offer, from live music to 4x4 accessory exhibits, Dakar rally experience in an Amarok with a V8 Mustang engine, LA Sport @Mbizi mountain trails and LA Sport ‘gravel drag challenges’ to mention a few... One thing is for sure – this year’s Land Cruiser Challenge is going to be the best ever!”
