The South African Guild of Motoring Journalists is pleased to announce that Michelin Tyre Company South Africa have come on board as headline sponsors of the Motor Sportsman of the Year competition for 2017 and beyond.
In existence for 24 years, the Motor Sportsman of the Year competition also incorporates the Colin Watling Award acknowledging achievements of an individual or motor sporting body during each year by other than a competitor.
“It is wonderful to have Michelin South Africa, who are fully involved in high-performance tyres for road racing cars and motorcycles as one of our headline sponsors” says Bernard Hellberg Jr, Chairman of the Guild.
“All our sponsors for Car of the Year and the South African Motor Journalist of the Year have been with us for the long run and we hope Michelin will enjoy many happy years involved with the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists.” Said Mr Gaganjot Singh, Commercial Director for Michelin South Africa, “Michelin Tyre Company South Africa endeavours to take part in racing partnerships that have meaning in terms of future mobility. We support our partners to victory, demonstrating the outstanding quality and performance of our products. This success is then the basis for developing innovative technology for the benefit of the drivers everywhere.”
The awards – for motorsport achievements between February 2017 and the end of January 2018 – will be made at a ceremony on Tuesday, 10 April 2018 after the Easter weekend.
