Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Laureus Sport for Good Foundation collaborate for social impact
Light of Hope receives funding

Demonstrating the power of partnership, Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA), in collaboration with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa (LSFGFSA), announces the graduation of the third cohort of the Incubation Hub programme.

Driven by the growing need to support a wider network of non-profits, in 2024, the partners expanded their reach through the Incubation Hub in Gauteng to equip more organisations with the skills, mentorship and tools to scale their initiatives, ensuring long-term success, socio-economic development and impact in communities.

In the last three years, the Incubation Hub has onboarded 31 nonprofits to the programme providing non-profits with four-months training focused on strategic development, governance, financial management, child safeguarding, monitoring & evaluation, and networking opportunities to ensure they are better equipped to overcome challenges and drive sustainable community interventions.

Abey Kgotle, Executive Director: Human Resources & Corporate Affairs, Mercedes-Benz South Africa, commented:

“Our partnership with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa demonstrates the strength and resilience of organisations working tirelessly to bring lasting social change. By expanding the Incubation Hub to Gauteng and growing our footprint in the Eastern Cape, we are reaffirming our commitment to long-term, sustainable impact – ensuring that more communities have the resources and leadership needed to thrive and positively change the lives of many.”

This year’s programme culminated with a graduation ceremony, where six exceptional non-profits, namely, Nyara Youth Development, Light of Hope, Helping Those in Need, Faith and Hope Foundation, Child Welfare Tshwane and Arch Impact Accelerator, were recognized for their commitment and proposals following months-long incubation and training, receiving R400,000 each to continue their critical work in addressing pressing social challenges. The successful non-profits were chosen on the basis of their funding plans and resonance with Mercedes-Benz South Africa’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillars, including Education, Women Empowerment, and Community Upliftment.

“The Incubation Hub has once again proven how collaboration can transform communities. We are immensely proud of the continued success of our partnership with Mercedes-Benz South Africa, which empowers non-profits to thrive despite the challenges they face,” stated Marlene Coetzee-George, Chief Executive Officer, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa.

As Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa reinforce their commitment to fostering sustainable communities, the Incubation Hub remains a cornerstone of their shared vision—supporting organisations that turn adversity into opportunity and drive sustainable impact.
