Auto vehicle market declined slightly from 2023 levels, still up on 2021 numbers

Despite a 3% decline in total vehicle sales, passenger vehicle sales grew by 1%, while LCVs dropped 12%. Crossover/SUVs dominate, now nearing 40% of the market, while hybrids and EV sales doubled, reaching 4.4% of passenger sales. Lightstone provided over 1.9 million vehicle validations, offering critical insights for the industry.

  • Crossover/SUV grew from 35% to just under 40% of Light Vehicle market in 2024
  • Other bodyshapes either held steady or declined marginally
  • Crossover SUV leads the bodyshape table, holding the position it captured in 2021. Hatch is still the second favourite, ahead of the Above One-Ton DCab, Above       
  •   One-Ton SCab and the Sedan.
