With the close of 2024, the Spanish brands integrated into Autoparts from Spain have once again demonstrated their ability to meet the demands of an international market undergoing a full transformation towards electric, sustainable and digital mobility.
The year's results confirm that innovation applied to key automotive component products — ranging from delivery vehicle components to specific solutions for heavy, light, and last-mile electric vehicles — has been crucial in strengthening the position of the Spanish automotive supplier industry on the global stage.
Mª Begoña Llamazares, Autoparts from Spain’s spokesperson and Head of Markets at Sernauto, states: “Innovation is in the DNA of Spanish component manufacturers, who have formed a global-leading industry that has been known for decades for its high-quality standards, investment in technology and innovation, and extensive experience.”
According to Llamazares, many of the innovations launched this year reaffirm the position of Autoparts from Spain’s associated companies and the Spanish component industry as a whole as strategic partners for automotive manufacturers. “The Spanish equipment and component sector, as a whole, plays a fundamental role in the vehicle value chain, contributing approximately 75% of its total,” she emphasizes.
In a context marked by growing demand for environment-friendly solutions that reduce maintenance and increase efficiency, ICER BRAKES has reinforced its commitment to the LMD range, a line of brake pads specifically designed for delivery vehicles. These products, which last between 40% and 75% longer than conventional pads, incorporate next-generation friction of low-emissions, copper-free materials. Reducing the frequency of maintenance interventions and also lowering associated costs. The initial success of the LMD range has prompted ICER to expand the line with 11 new references, covering a broader range of applications and ensuring workshops and operators have access to a reliable, durable and sustainable product.
This commitment to efficiency and innovation is also evident in FERSA’s initiatives, a Spanish multinational specialized in the design, manufacture, and distribution of mobility solutions, high-performance bearings, and electromechanical components for OEMs and the Aftermarket in the automotive, industrial, and energy sectors. In 2024, the company introduced a portfolio focused on both heavy-duty vehicles and electric passenger cars, investing in low-friction bearings to reduce fuel consumption, repair kits for AMT transmissions, pneumatic clutch actuators, and, notably, its innovative Smart Hub Assembly’s sensorized wheel hub. This solution collects real-time data, enabling an informed decision-making, anticipating failures, and optimizing predictive maintenance. Additionally, under its PFI FERSA brand, the company has made a significant leap toward electromobility with its range of Drive Unit Repair Kits, featuring high-performance hybrid bearings designed to meet the technical demands of electric motors. "We have set the goal of achieving net-zero emissions for Scopes 1 and 2 by 2030, and for Scope 3 by 2040. Moreover, through our FERSA Green initiative, we promote decarbonization and foster a culture of environmental awareness, creating a positive impact on employees, partners, and communities," the company emphasizes.
In the field of fluids, OLIPES has focused on the continuous improvement of its product offer, reformulating its antifreeze solutions to achieve higher safety levels without compromising performance. This update, which adheres to the highest quality standards, exemplifies the meticulous attention Spanish companies pay to every detail, ensuring the reliability of their solutions in response to the new challenges of mobility and environmental conditions.
Finally, the commitment to new forms of transport and the forward-looking vision of companies such as RTS complete the picture for 2024. The company has launched a line of reinforced suspension and steering parts designed to overcome the limitations of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components. These developments incorporate technological advances that increase durability, performance and safety in demanding conditions and key enhancements include higher strength materials, optimised manufacturing processes and innovative designs that reduce wear and the impact of extreme loads.
