“Over-regulation, particularly in South Africa’s labour, education, and healthcare sectors debilitates economic growth and slows social progress.” Morné Malan, FMF Deputy Head of Policy.
On Tuesday, 5 November, at 11h00, the Free Market Foundation (FMF) will host an online briefing during which FMF Deputy Head of Policy, Dr Morné Malan, will show why deregulation is the most effective tool for high-impact reform.
The easiest way for the Government of National Unity to generate massive economic and social gains in this term is not through fiscal, monetary or other forms of economic policy but by unleashing the potential of its citizens through large-scale deregulation of the economy,” Malan said.
The event marks the third instalment in a series of five online briefings, during which leading thinkers at the FMF offer solutions to South Africa’s most pressing socio-economic challenges.
“Deregulation will enhance the capacity of the private sector to create jobs, foster innovation, and drive economic development, ultimately contributing to the fulfilment of the rights enshrined in the South African Constitution,” Malan added.
Members of the media are invited to attend the online briefing, which will commence as follows:
