WCWL continues to spread the cheer

Chery continues to add more and more charitable causes to its roster under its With Chery With Love (#WCWL) programme.

For its latest initiative, the Chinese brand mobilised dealers, head office staff and international team members to collect and distribute food and clothing to Mother of Peace, a group of orphanages with homes in Northriding and Illovo in Gauteng and Mutoko in Zimbabwe.

“Mother of Peace Orphanages create caring environments for children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS, sexual abuse and abandonment.  We are honoured to be able to help them care and feed the many orphans in their care,” says Tony Liu, Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

The ever-growing With Chery With Love programme has its roots in China, where the brand started inviting its customers, dealers, suppliers and other partners to support charitable causes. It has since grown to include many global campaigns and many more local and regional initiatives covering every country and region in which it operates.

The #WCWL movement has also expanded from simple charitable outreach programmes by a single dealer, a group of owners or the brand itself to global partnerships supported by very large donations from Chery.

In one instance, a delegation from Chery Automobile joined hands with UNICEF to visit the February 2023 earthquake-affected regions of Hatay, Nurdagi and Kilis in Türkiye. During the visit, the team from Chery participated in a variety of educational and skills development programmes, which emphasise childhood education and adolescent skills.

This large-scale programme followed Chery’s 2023 announcement that it was partnering with UNICEF in a two-year, R110 million partnership, in support of educational programmes around the world.

The partnership helps UNICEF to tackle the learning crisis by supporting its global education programmes aimed at providing quality education to the most disadvantaged and marginalised children. Some of the countries that benefit from this partnership are China, Mexico, South Africa and Türkiye.

Locally, With Chery With Love (#WCWL) has not taken a break either.

Earlier this year, Chery South Africa, together with Lions Rugby, joined hands to facilitate access to the sport of rugby to communities who have never had the opportunity to enjoy the full stadium experience. The aim was to bring children from poor households and their families to a full-on fan experience at live sports events.

Chery is the official vehicle partner to the Lions Rugby Union.

This same partnership with the rugby icon saw Chery hand out gifts to children with life-threatening illnesses at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital’s children’s ward as part of an initiative by the Reach for a Dream Foundation.

Chery has also partnered with other charitable organisations across South Africa to care for orphans, donate food, clothing and funds to social upliftment organisations and offer their time and skills to mentor disadvantaged children in Gauteng and elsewhere.

Meanwhile accolades continue to roll in and achievements are stacking up as Chery crosses the halfway mark in 2024.  Recently, Chery received its third consecutive Gold Award in the annual NADA Dealer Satisfaction Index, and further abroad it was the second consecutive year that Chery hit the top spot in the auto category of the prestigious Google X Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders for 2024.

Because love is a two-way street, South Africa showed its love for the inimitable Chery through its purchasing power. June saw Chery positioned at the number 5 spot on the national sales rankings for passenger cars and the second most sought after SUV in the country!

With these achievements in mind, it is no wonder Chery has been able to offer amazing  after-sales products such as a comprehensive mechanical warranty and service plan that include a 1 million kilometre / 10-year engine warranty and the Chery Extender Service Plan and the Chery Extender Maintenance Plan that covers the Manufacturer-specified parts, labour and oil required for the scheduled servicing and periodic maintenance of a Chery vehicle.
