Hino South Africa made history at the 2024 Dealer Satisfaction Index award ceremony when it won a Platinum award for the sixth successive year and this time it was the first company to be given a rating of more than 90% by its dealer network.
This annual survey has been conducted with franchised commercial vehicle dealers by the National Automobil Dealers’ Association (NADA) since 2008.
“The DSI is a crucial benchmark for measuring dealer satisfaction across various automotive brands and this year there was participation from 183 commercial vehicle dealerships,” explained Itumeleng Segage, General Manager of Hino SA. “Winning a Platinum award for the sixth time and this year topping the results table with a record high score, was a great achievement and underlines the magnificent working relationship that exists between the Hino team members and the staff at the 63 dealers in our network.”
Bobby Pringle, Chairperson of the Hino South Africa Dealer Council, says that he and his fellow dealers are extremely proud of this excellent performance by Hino South Africa and the Hino brand in the extremely competitive truck market in South Africa.
“The results show how well Hino SA, and its dealers work together, with the overall objective being to satisfy our customers with outstanding service in all aspects of our business, thereby contributing to the profitability of their transport operations,” explained Pringle.
“The introduction of the new, highly competitive Hino 700 last year has opened up a new market for us, while we continue to enjoy success with our well-proven Hino 200, 300 and 500 range.”
Platinum DSI awards are given to brands with a score of 85.0 or above and this year Hino was the only commercial vehicle brand to achieve this level of satisfaction. Six brands reached Gold award status (75.0 – 84.9) with one Silver award (70.0 – 74.9) and one Bronze award (65.0 – 69.9).
There was as a notable improvement in the commercial vehicle survey this year with the average overall score increasing from 77.9 in 2023 to 78.8 this year, making it the highest average score in this rating index which has been undertaken by NADA for the past 28 years, with a pause for the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The survey, which is conducted independently, has been sponsored by WesBank for the past 20 years.
Participating dealerships are scored in 13 focus areas, including dealer satisfaction, communication, and relationships, used cars, CSI programme, vehicle range, vehicle distribution, parts, policy claims and warranty, franchise compliance audits, dealer support, labour rates and others.
