Chery sets yet another sales record

Chery South Africa hit another all-time new vehicle sales record with 1 502 new Tiggo models sold in March.

The overall sales figure is not only a new record for the brand, but it helps maintain Chery’s position as one of the SUV market leaders on the national sales roster, despite being the newest vehicle brand on the market.

The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro was the brand’s most popular vehicle range and sold 918 units in March. It was followed by the Tiggo 7 Pro, the newest range in the line-up, with 395 units sold and the Tiggo 8 Pro flagship, including the all-new Tiggo 8 Pro MAX, which was sold to 189 new customers.

“We see our sales success as a direct endorsement from South African motorists and will not take it for granted,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

“South Africans have readily adopted our products and have become our greatest source of referral and marketing. We are truly thankful for their support and will work very hard to protect it.”

Chery set its aim on winning customer loyalty when it introduced its Tiggo 8 Pro with an unmatched 1-million-kilometre mechanical warranty. This warranty has since been replicated on both the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro, giving every owner the peace of mind that Chery has them covered for the next decade or 1 million kilometres travelled.

To back this industry-leading warranty and make Chery ownership even more pleasant, Chery also introduced the My Chery app. The app allows customers to contact Chery, schedule and book services and manage their ownership experience – all from their phone.

Chery this year followed up with another market innovation when it introduced MyCheryCare.

Designed to include a long list of insurance and convenience products, MyCheryCare is now included in the sales price of every new Chery sold. It covers many of the inconveniences that are synonymous with vehicle ownership in South Africa, including scratch and dent repair, rim damage repair and even a free drive-me-home service that offers free chauffeur-drives for Chery Tiggo Pro owners.

Chery further upped the ante when it partnered with the Automobile Association (AA) for a comprehensive roadside assistance service to each Chery owner, while recently investing in a new parts warehouse to offer the shortest possible time between the ordering of service and repair parts for both new and old Chery models.

“We attribute much of our success to our network of loyal dealers. Chery has been extremely strict in its selection of dealers and that has paid dividends, with high customer satisfaction scores and even higher levels of customer loyalty,” says Jay Jay Botes, National Sales Manager for Chery.

In March, a new flagship Chery dealership was opened in Northcliff, Johannesburg. The multi-storey building boasts a large sales centre, multiple service bays for quick in-and-out services and even a vehicle repair shop for minor cosmetic repairs. This is the 76th facility in the Chery dealer network.

“Chery sees South Africa as a pivotal country in its future success. It will continue to invest in our local network, our product range and our service quality to ensure that we build a solid base for sustained success in the future,” says Botes.
