Mahindra celebrates with fans at this year's Survivor South Africa finale

Members of the cast and crew of the 2019 Survivor South Africa series on the set of the final episode of Survivor South Africa: Island of Secrets at Silverline Studios in Cape Town on Thursday 12 September.

Mahindra celebrated the end of one of the most intriguing TV series yet, as it handed over two brand new Mahindra vehicles to winners at the Survivor: Island of Secrets 2019 grand finale in Cape Town.

As the series vehicle sponsor, Mahindra offered two brand new vehicles - an XUV300 W8 and a KUV100 NXT K8 - to fuel the Survivor Fan Favourite competition. Viewers could vote for their favourite contestant and enter the draw for the XUV300. In turn, the ultimate Fan Favourite winner received a KUV100.

Last night, the KUV100 NXT was handed over to Rob Bentele, who not only won the series and was named Sole Survivor, but who also stole South Africa's hearts to become the Fan Favourite.

"The KUV100 is a representation of the fans' love, and that I will always treasure. On a more subtle note, this car is durable and rugged, which I believe is symbolic of how I played the game," said an elated Rob after winning the car.

Rob was one of three fan favourite finalists, who included Jacques Burger and Nicole Capper, who turned up as the runner-up in the competition.

Also attending last night, was Kyle Roberts, the winner of the Fan Favourite competition. Kyle is a student in Gauteng, and he entered the competition twice. He drove away in a brand-new XUV300 W8.

"I couldn't believe my luck. I am a huge fan of Survivor and who knows, maybe someday I can also enter. But for now, my first order of business is to sell my old car!" said Kyle, who was randomly chosen from a pool of thousands of viewers who voted in the Fan Favourite competition.

This was the second year that Mahindra joined DStv and the creators of Survivor South Africa by fuelling the Fan Favourite competition. It further turbo-charged the competition by giving 10 additional entries to all fans who visited their nearest Mahindra dealership and tested one of the many SUVs or Pik Ups on offer.

"In South Africa's crowded vehicle market with over 50 brands and thousands of options available, Mahindra has had to earn the trust and custom of South African buyers. But we are #AlwaysUpForAChallenge - just like Rob - and today we are one of the country's fastest growing vehicle brands.
