The limited-edition Wide Body kits hit our shores in late June and headed straight to our Malmesbury workshop to begin their unique and long-awaited transformation. The Shelby Wide Body is a real iconic upgrade and will be turning heads on the SA roads soon, featuring Ford’s world renowned 5.0 V8 powerhouse with forced induction through a Whipple supercharger pumping out an extreme 750 HP.
Two Wide Bodies are expected to be out on Johannesburg and Durban roads soon. Shelby SA will be doing a reveal of the first vehicles so watch this space!!!
The Shelby Ford F-150 Truck is also on its way to South African tarmac, ready to add even more American muscle, passion and flare to the Shelby range. Available as the Raptor Baja spec featuring the new ecoboost powertrain technology, pumping out a massive 375kw from the 6-cylinder twin turbocharged engine, Shelby off-road wheels, a 10 speed automatic gearbox and bespoke Fox Suspension. And of course the classic and brutal 565kw V8 in Super Snake and Street Truck form. “Based on the Ford F-150 — the most popular vehicle on the face of the earth —The bakkies will be converted to right hand drive at Hi-tech Automotive, Shelby’s approved F150 upgrade facility” says Shelby CEO Peter Lindenberg.
Coming directly from the United States these street monsters are all priced according to the current exchange rate and are subject to change. “We will only be building a limited number of what’s clearly set to become South Africa’s King of Bakkies,” Lindenberg concluded. “Only 500 Shelby F150s will be built around the world, with each bakkie entered into the Shelby American Registry.” Shelby are proud to independently import the F-150 and expand the variety of Fords on South African roads. The F-150 is the ultimate “bakkie” for all occasions, both off and on-road.

Shelby was also honoured to invite the Mustang Owners Club of South Africa to an exclusive breakfast run on Father’s Day, the 17th of June. The event was a huge success with over 40 cars roaring around the streets of Johannesburg, giving those lucky enough to see the convoy an amazing idea of how the Mustang lifestyle is strong in South Africa. The legends of the 1960s sharing the spotlight with the beasts of today.
With the elongated route kicking off at the Motul Museum and ending at the East Gate Motor show where the cars stole the spotlight and the drivers enjoyed some refueling of their own. A huge thank you to the Mustang Owner’s Club for their continued support and love of the Mustang.
