Recently, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released sales data. In May 2021, China's domestic automobile sales volume was 2.128 million units, down 3.1% year on year. From January to May, the cumulative sales volume was 10.875 million units, up 36.6 percent year on year. Compared with the growth rate of the industry, Chery became the "fastest running" enterprise. According to statistics released by the CAAM, Chery's growth rate from January to May was 91.3 percent year on year, ranking first among Chinese auto brands.
Since this year, the sales volume of Chery has been "surging" for five consecutive months, with year-on-year growth rates of 80.2%, 144.9%, 130.5%, 91.6% and 58.1% respectively. From January to May, Chery sold 348,302 vehicles in total, up 84.2% year on year. Although affected by the low sales base due to the epidemic last year, Chery's sales from January to May still achieved a rapid growth of 30.8%, even compared with that of the same period in 2019.
Internationally, the popularity of Chery's products can be measured by a striking number: So far this year, Chery has added an overseas user every 2.3 minutes. Since February, Chery's overseas exports have achieved year-on-year growth rates of 117.3%, 101.9%, 312.5% and 256.5%. From January to May, Chery exported 94,916 vehicles in total, up 154.5% year on year, and its annual export is expected to exceed 200,000 vehicles.
Along with growing market sales, Chery's brand influence has also been recognized globally. In Russia, Chery has won the title of "the most popular Chinese car brand" for five times by virtue of its strong product strength and excellent service. So far, Chery has more than 200,000 users in Russia, ranking No. 1 among Chinese car brands. In Brazil, the brand-new Tiger 8, which has been launched for only four months, has been named the "Best Midsize SUV of the Year 2020" by authoritative Brazilian media UOL, beating both the Ford Territory and the Jeep Compass.
