DPI's description of the workshop:
Despite the hours invested in developing strategic plans, all too often they don't work in spite of the universal discussion around the need to be "strategic". The chief impediment to successful strategy execution, in our experience, is inertia – legacy priorities, limited buy-in to the strategy, leaders unsure about how to execute the strategy - resulting in failure to operationalise the strategy.
So how does one fix this problem? When people accept and understand what is going on, they are more likely to act upon it. Getting buy-in is one of the most difficult things to achieve in strategy execution, yet the most important, because it can make or break the strategy. To get the necessary buy-in and momentum needed for strategy execution, DPI recommends that organisations encourage strategic conversations at all key levels of management.
This is only possible when all the management levels have a common strategic thinking language and approach that helps managers identify competence and commitment levels on each task, where they are at on each strategic initiative and ask for what they need from the executive to complete the allocated task. This creates the momentum needed for safe, quality strategic conversations on a regular basis and for making people feel more connected, aligned, and purposeful in their work.
DPI Leadership Academy assists in creating leaders with the business and strategic acumen, the ability to collaborate and build cross-functional teams, global cultural agility, creativity, problem-solving, decision making, influence and inspiration.
Strategic Thinking Applied, as one of the key programmes in DPI’s Leadership Academy, is designed for executives and managers who need to build the momentum and fast track the strategic conversations necessary for effective strategy implementation.
We look forward to meeting you and your colleagues at the Strategic Thinking Applied workshop.
