Subaru Southern Africa has appointed South African Rui Silva as its new Managing Director.
Having joined Subaru Southern Africa in 1994 as an accountant, 2 years after the brand was established in South Africa, Mr. Silva has enjoyed a long-standing career as well as widespread experience within the company ranging from Finance and Sales, through to his last position as Chief Operations Officer.
With Subaru Southern Africa having just launched the all-new Subaru Impreza and XV model range, together with the debut of its award-winning driver assist technology called EyeSight, Mr. Silva says, "Subaru Southern Africa is at a pivotal point, with outstanding new product & technology released, and high levels of customer satisfaction & passion for the brand. In addition, we have an enthusiastic and a thriving dealer network that is wanting of a broader customer base. With this renewed energy, our shareholder and manufacturer are steadfast in further investments into our market. This all bodes well for our mandate of delivering superior confidence in all that we do for our customers".
Mr. Silva officially took the helm 1 July 2017 from Kazunori Suzuki who has headed up Subaru Southern Africa since 2013. He remains at the company till the end of the financial year and thereafter returns to the company's Tokyo-based shareholder Toyota Tsusho Corporation to assume a new assignment.
